BTECH UV-PRO Dual-Band Handheld Radio

The BTECH UV-PRO is a feature-packed dual-band (VHF/UHF) handheld transceiver that’s gaining popularity among club members for its modern capabilities, especially in portable and digital operations.

Two standout features make the UV-PRO particularly useful:

  • Satellite Operations: Built-in GPS and app integration allow easy tracking of amateur satellites, automatic Doppler shift correction, and quick frequency setup for uplinks/downlinks—ideal for working FM and linear transponder birds portable.
  • Integrated Bluetooth TNC/Modem: The radio includes a built-in Bluetooth modem and KISS TNC, enabling seamless digital modes like APRS, packet radio, Winlink email, and text messaging directly via a smartphone app. No external soundcard interface or mobilinkd required!

Other key specifications include 5W output, IP67 waterproof rating, USB-C charging, NOAA weather alerts, aviation band receive, and full APRS support (beacons, messaging, objects).

As of late 2025, the UV-PRO is widely available from retailers like Amazon and BaofengTech.com, typically priced around $150–$170 depending on color and bundle. Reviews praise its innovative Bluetooth features, app programming, and value for money, though some note a learning curve for the advanced digital functions and occasional firmware updates needed for full potential.
